Mayor Scott Jackson is hoping millions in grant money to construct an incubator is a gateway to bringing more jobs to the city and make Hamden more attractive to new business start-ups.
The Hamden Economic Development Corporation was given a $5 million grant from the state to build the new incubator at the site of the old Newhall Community Center. It is scheduled to open in early 2015.
Dale Kroop, economic development coordinator for Hamden, said the incubator is being designed specifically to help entrepreneurs get their business off the ground.
“This is being built to assist startups and early entrepreneurs,” said Kroop.
