Surveyors are frequently called upon to locate existing pins with the use of specialized metal detectors. Our seasoned surveyors at Godfrey-Hoffman & Hodge can usually identify what is under the surface of the ground by the tone that the metal detector will sound off. But not this time!!! 

On this particular day, our surveyors found themselves uncovering a hand grenade while digging for a property corner in Burlington, Connecticut! 

The state police and bomb squad with canine unit were called in. They determined that we had found a practice grenade and it was harmless. So thankfully, this day did not end with a bang!!!
